Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) is developing a strategy for the National Roads network (NR2040) The strategy aims to enable the delivery of Project Ireland 2040 (National Planning Framework), support the realisation of several National Strategic Objectives (NSOs) and align with the Department of Transport’s National Investment Framework for Transport in Ireland (NIFTI) and other government policy.
TII’s vision is for the National Roads network to be an evolving sustainable transport system focused on safety, innovation, accessibility and mobility of people, goods, and services.
The strategy will be delivered by TII in collaboration with other government agencies and transport stakeholders to provide a consistent approach to achieve this vision. As NR2040 is implemented over the coming years, it will be important for TII to work with stakeholders to monitor progress whilst ensuring the needs of users are met across the road network.
TII is inviting the public and anyone that is interested to make their views heard on the draft NR2040 strategy. The public consultation is open from the 5th of August to the 30th of September 2022. Details about the consultation, including how to respond, can be found online here.
